A weekend of driving, a rescued kitty and some sex videos
Published February 22nd, 2006 in Driving, day to dayOk so it has been about 5 days since I posted. What can I say? I have been BUSY. ![]()
It was a great weekend. My first weekend as a driver out there in the real world! Yep. No more instructor by the side of me with foot near his brake to intervene and no more going around the same routes over and over again… I must admit though, I am a little not used to someone telling me where to turn.
No I didn’t buy a car *yet* - I rented one instead. It’s a simple little Hyundai Accent I rented off some chap on the net. I expected very little for my first ‘car’, especially with its very low rent. Kinda expected some rundown dirty car that stalls every minute and spews blue smoke… but no, it was rather well taken care of, clean, had decent stuff like remote alarm, acceptable ICE, leather seats and oh P plates in the glovebox too! Hehe. There’s a story behind this - but I think I shall spare everyone that…
We went to places we never could easily get to without a car. First night we went for a late late show at Great World. Now the crappy thing is that I actually bought tickets for Marina Square but somehow both wifey and I thought it was at Great World. The funny thing is that the person manning the entry point just looked at the ticket, tore it, smiled and directed us to the cinema of a totally different movie. Oh well. We took the 2nd row from the front and just watched I Not Stupid Too. We were supposed to watch Zoolander.. hmm.. Anyway after that we drove home… bought some driving essentials like cashcard, carpark coupons and oh my own personal P plate too.
I now realise how much a chore it is to punch out those narky carpark coupons. Augh. In today’s age why can’t we have a park and charge by the minute solution… sheesh. Parking is also another peeve - not just locating a lot but well trying to get it right the first time. In the test circuit my parking is rather consistent. But outside augh I just fear hitting other cars. And I really hate driving up those curvy multi-storey carparks too.
Over the weekend, we went to Botanic Gardens (freaking hot!), and also to a few car showrooms - test drove the Renault Megane. It’s a lot of car for S$67k but well probably a fuel guzzler. I especially like its auto headlights/wipers, steering wheel mounted audio controls, hidden compartments, build etc.
We also went to Ubi’s big AML and it was a rather interesting experience. Perhaps more on that another day…
On Sunday, we had yummy prata at Jalan Kayu.

On the way to the stall, we spotted this very young kitten stumbling around. We decided to eat first and check back later to see if it was still there and perhaps if the mother would be back by then. After our meal on the walk back to the car we found the same kitten huddled in a corner under a metal platform. I got it out and it was so frail. We looked around for its mother but couldnt find any other cats and decided to bring it to SPCA. See car = convenience = saves little kittens too
- i had to fill in a form declaring that I understand it may be put to sleep if SPCA is not able to home it… sad but hopefully we did the right thing and that little kitty is well now.

What else? Well ahem that’s about it for now. Hehehe. All in all, an exciting weekend. It was sad returning the car and taking the train home Sunday night but well, we do have LOTS MORE to look forward to! It’s fun to drive, perhaps just the novelty for now.. wifey has been very much the instructor, ensuring I keep two hands on the steering wheel for safety (yes I acknowledge it’s the right thing to do…) she is also very much my GPS and I am amazed how she knows where to go everytime. I got lost when I drove out to look for W on Saturday night, and later got lost again later in the night. Lame.
It’s a whole new world now!
Lastly, well I am going to collect my photocard license tomorrow. Yay! Also the current ruckus about the NYP sex videos shows clearly on Technorati now with it being the top THREE terms.

I think I should not comment about this even how its a hot potato now…
Ok ttfn! Will write again soon…

Oh, Jas drives ?
No she doesn’t. What makes you think she does?
“wifey has been very much the instructor, ensuring I keep two hands on the steering wheel for safety …”
Anyway, Why Aren’t We Hosting The Video ? Why ? Why ? Why ?
Now who said females are bad at directions?
Get Toyota Vios or Altis lah. Or a hatchback! Mazda 2, Suzuki Swift, Renault Clio Campus!
None of the above! All will be revealed soon!
What do you mean ? You didn’t know what’s alf’s dream car ? He he he.
