A movie in the zoo
Published August 28th, 2006 in day to day
It has been a while since we did a little something special, so when I chanced across a Charity Preview of Barnyard at the Zoo, I jumped at it. So on Saturday, I surprised wifey by driving to the zoo. We walked around a bit, and went to the Pavilion by the Lake at 6pm, 30mins early. And thankfully we were cos the place very quickly filled up. The photo you see up there is taken at about 6.20pm. And that’s not even half-full. By 7pm+ the whole place was packed. People came prepared. Well prepared. The foreigners had proper picnic baskets, and even brought pillows. Most had sandwiches, finger food and drinks. We were kinda prepared with a groundsheet, beach mat, bag full of snacks and some water. Ended up buying food there of course, at ridiculous ‘touristy’ prices like $3 for a hot dog, $4 for some ice cream. Sheesh. But if it’s indeed for charity then that’s cool.
The movie by itself, which started at 7.30pm, was quite ok. The quibble is that they needed to swap projectors every now and then and with each switch we lost some audio, and one projector was very obviously out of focus. But well still the movie was quite ok, though quite forgettable… it was kinda fun watching a movie about animals in a zoo.
Thankfully we didn’t get any mosquito bites!
