One last work week for 2006
Published December 18th, 2006 in day to dayYep. Just have to tahan this last work week before I head out to the land of ‘nua-ness’ as I’d be on leave after the end of this week.
How was your weekend? Last Friday attended a colleague’s wedding - the groom is Indian and the bride Chinese. Lovely wedding. Food was decent, music was quite nice, and I really enjoyed the part where the groom came dancing in (to Indian music of course) surrounded by his cohort of happy dancing (male) friends and how that was followed by a serene, mesmerising entrance of the bride with her bridesmaids carrying a trellis (for the lack of a better word) of flowers over her, to the soothing gentle Indian music - which is a great contrast. Great wedding, Pawan.
I had to take a cab home after that. Was so sian about it. Once you get used to driving, it’s so hard to get back into walking around, hunting for a cab and all that.
Saturday morning I took the train to Plaza Singapura. I actually enjoyed that train ride - plugged into my ipod and playing my gameboy micro which I haven’t touched in months! I went for a haircut - I don’t quite like it but well…
Then I went to collect my car at ADSM… they did an okay job though if you really look hard, you can probably tell something happened to the rear door before. I happily drove home, picked up wifey and the dog, and went to the vet for a review. AJ’s skin is perfect now, though he lost 1kg due to his very pure diet of Falkamin and papaya. Nothing else.
Dropped by to a friend’s housewarming party very nearby in Balestier, and it was quite a nice bbq they had - good spread too. Too bad we only had a few minutes since we had to rush off to meet the in-laws. Watched Nativity with them which is quite ok but I thought Mary looked too young and well, since the story is so clear to us already, nothing surprising really. Went back to the house-warming after that, and ate some leftovers and then played some RC cars in the basement carpark, the latest craze among the guys, basically drifting and not racing the RC cars! Cool!
Sunday saw wifey and I playing ‘mummy and daddy’ to our little cousin Kim. Technically we are uncle and aunty of course but I think this kind of outing gives me good preview of how it is like bring a child out. Things change - you drive more carefully, you look for family packages at places of interests, you also be more careful of your manners and such (no more FUCK THAT CAB DRIVER!) you know… we brought her to the Science Centre which had a million buttons and such for Kim to press but it is very apparent Science Centre needs more funds or better management as about 10-15% of the exhibits were down and some information outdated. We concluded with a screening at the Omnitheatre where I tried to concentrate on the voices of Johnny Depp and er.. Kate Winslet I think for some aquatic show - amidst some children screaming, a child constantly kicking the back of my chair, and the little girl to my right asking her dad questions EVERY minute.
Sent her home, then went to Ikea to change the table legs we bought wrongly - but they didn’t have the replacements.
So that’s mostly my weekend.
And oh today I realized someone stole my rav4 antenna. Crap.
So luck hasn’t been good for me at all lately. Maybe should go buy a four-leaf clover or something. Sheesh.

Drift. Is the new craze.
