Bukit Timah Bike Trail

Every Saturday, wifey and I will likely wake up later than usual after 5 days of waking up at 7am for work. This Saturday, however saw us up at 6.30am and loading our bikes on the new Thule bike carrier, and driving to Chestnut Drive for our first mini group biking trip with Dave, Jeff and new friends Victor and Don.

It was great to have your senses feel nature all around you… as I started on the first trail I had to stop and try capture a moment of the sunlight streaming through the trees, with the promise of a great mini adventure ahead.

It started out pretty ok but it soon became a little challenging as the terrain became progressively rough with rocks and pits… the worse yet - I foolishly attempted this with my SLICKS, so you can imagine the outcome.

As we biked through the trail, every other stranger we met either on foot or on a bike smiled at each other and everyone there was just enjoying themselves. A couple of wild dogs and monkeys we spotted as well.

Wifey fell a few times but she was brave and just kept pushing on. Many times, me included, we had to dismount and push the bike but all in all it was great fun. Felt bad though that we probably slowed everyone down and probably took the much shorter route because of us too. But baby steps. :)

We finished it off with 3 cans of icy 100 plus, and er sinful laksa and minced pork noodles at the Rail Mall. Then to Vic’s place to scrub the mud off the bikes.

A great ride! And I think we are going to do this every Saturday. I think the next one would be the Tampines trail. I am keen to try the Mandai one too.

Looking forward to going there with my buddy wen when he returns from Sydney! ;-)

Here’s ending this post off with a few more pics!
