Solve a problem, create another
Published August 1st, 2006 in day to dayOk I am complaining again.
It is nearly a YEAR since I joined this agency. I never liked my computer, and I have made that known since forever. It’s an old slow Windows 2000 IBM desktop with a clunky, old, non-flat CRT monitor.
Guess what. Today I got the approval to swap that CRT with someone else’s LCD panel. Oh that’s good ya, but not exactly a long term solution since the ‘owner’ is but away on secondment and will be back eventually. The issue is this… Windows 2000, this amazing OS, has no ‘Cleartype’ font smoothing.

So yes the complaint is that though I have a nice sharp, bright LCD, I have to stare at jagged, sharp fonts. I actually see ‘green stuff’ when I close my eyes now… 0
Damn.
My solution is to dim the screen pretty much so. I wish I could just use my Powerbook as my primary computer. Sheesh.
Update: I am happy with it now. Just lowered the brightness + contrast and now it’s not that bad. For sure an improvement.

Dapper Drake, anyone ?
The only way to get a new computer in ogilvy is to hope, pray or simply make sure your current one is wonky enough to stop you from getting work done. I learnt that from experience
